Type Peptide is a pedagogical tool for designing and optimizing antimicrobial peptides
based on their physicochemical properties.
The application was developed for the molecular interactions branch of the Biología Funcional group, belonging to the Facultad de Ciencias of Universidad Nacional de Colombia – Sede Medellín.
The application calculates some of the physicochemical properties of aminoacid chains and generates a graphical
representation of a theoretical α-helix.
How to use it
The application is comprised of 3 sections:
1. Data entry:
Placed in the lower part of the page, for starting up the application, you must
input characters in the space labeled "Write aminoacid here". Only characters comprised by the alphabet of
the 20 most common aminoacids are valid.
2. Graphical representation:
Placed in the right part of the screen, it shows the peptide chain inserted in the lower section as an
α helix.
In order to see the lateral chain of a particular aminoacid and its relative position,
you must click on it. If you click on it afterwards the information will be hidden again.
To handle the camera use either right or left-click and then drag to move the angle of
view.
3. Information:
Here you can see some features of the input peptide.
